About

Taken during the summer of 2008

My name is Dale Yuzuki, and thank you for visiting this blog.

I am an experienced key-account, product development, marketing and sales professional with expertise in sequencing, genotyping, gene expression, methylation and epigenomics, and have developed products and marketing materials for the clinical next-generation sequencing market.

My subject-matter expertise is in Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS), targeted selection for NGS, whole-genome genotyping, whole-genome expression, microRNA, methylation profiling, and digital PCR.

I’ve recently started on a part-time basis helping commercialize the SeqOnce Biosiences‘ COVID-19 testing technology, for both RT-qPCR as well as an emerging NGS approach to SARS-CoV-2 detection.

As far as my background – in brief: I’ve taught middle-school and high-school level biology and chemistry (M.Ed. from UCLA), worked as a cancer and immunology researcher from the Veteran’s Administration in San Francisco and the John Wayne Institute in Santa Monica (M.A. from SFSU), taught English overseas in Beijing China, answered 1-800-DNA-PREP calls for QIAGEN, supported product development and tactical marketing efforts at both QIAGEN and Illumina, sold whole-genome genotyping, expression, and next-generation sequencing instruments to the NIH and Hopkins, and for several years was a field-based marketing professional for the Americas region for the Life Science Solutions Group for Thermo Fisher Scientific. You can find many of the interviews I did for Thermo Fisher Scientific here on YouTube, and a link to the Behind the Bench blog posts can be accessed here.

Further information about me is here at LinkedIn and if you are interested in the goals of this blog, I’ve written that up as well.
